Palaearctic Macrolepidoptera is a major new series aimed to cover all Palaearctic species of a subfamily, a family or perhaps several families. This new series will cover all species of the group or groups dealt with and should make it possible to identify all species.. It is aimed to have relatively heterogene volumes where mainly the format and layout will be uniform.
Volume 1 of this new series is authored by Dr. Alexander Schintlmeister, Germany, the leading authorithy in these beautiful moths.
The book is the first comprehesive work on Palaearctic Notodontidae since the famous Seitz work nealy a century ago. It cover in detail each of the approximately 520 species known from the Palaearctic Region. In the systematic part of the volume, each species is dealt with in the following format: Scientific name with synonyms, Diagnosis, Bionomics, Distribution. Further there will be a distribution map to each species on which also non-palaearctic distribution will be shown and there will be genitalia photos of the male and female of each species. On the high quality colour plates approx. 1500 specimens are illustrated covering the individual variety of the species as well as the variation between female and male.
