Finding Birds in Languedoc-Roussillon are mostly based on his observations in France in May and June 2022 so it’s really up-to-date. It details exactly where to find the best birds along the French coastline between the Camargue and the Pyrenees including the areas around Narbonne, Leucate and Perpignan.

Dave Gosney writes:

«This part of France has so far had little attention from visiting birders but it is home to a number of key species including Little Bustard, Lesser Kestrel, Bonelli’s Eagle, Eagle Owl, Moustached Warbler, Great Spotted Cuckoo and Pallid Swift plus a number of others that just creep into France from Iberia: Thekla Lark, Iberian Green Woodpecker, Spotless Starling and Purple Swamphen. I was surprised that some species such as Roller, Rock Sparrow and Western Orphean Warbler were relatively ‘easy’ and I managed to find some sites where desperately declining species such as Black-eared Wheatear, Short-toed Lark, Ortolan Bunting and Rock Thrush could still be found.»
